Four easy ideas to make a small space feel more open.

Four easy ideas to make a small space feel more open.
These four ideas will make your interior feel more open and lighter. They can be used individually or in conjunction with one another:

Add several sources of light to each space. All rooms benefit from a combination of lighting: a glowing hanging fixture, uplighting such as a torchiere, and table lamps or tasks lights. Dimmer switches add the ability to adjust the light levels from bright and cheerful to dark and moody.

Add some sparkle and shine by placing a large framed mirror on a wall where it can reflect a nearby incandescent light fixture.

Paint the ceiling of a contained space such as a dining room or study in a metallic paint color such as a bronze or gold. The reflective quality will add a soft glow and give the illusion of a higher ceiling.

French doors are a great idea when it comes to making an interior feel more open and expansive. Install them on center in a bedroom or family room to create a physical connection to the adjacent spaces. This will increase the light and flow
between your rooms when open and still offer
